Yes, its good to eat out every now and again but you need to understand that this should be a treat and not something that you habitually do because you don’t want to cook when you get home from work.
After a hard days work it can be difficult to find yourself in the kitchen cooking when all you really want to do is to kick off your shoes and put your feet up.

Maybe look for ways around this.
Batch cooking food is a great way to give yourself a break from the kitchen.
You can cook over the weekend and freeze your meals so that you can take them out as you need them without having to cook from scratch.
We do this in our house quite a lot and it saves hours of time.
Choosing to eat out a few times a week will completely blow your budget and could end up costing you an extra few hundred dollars a month.

Cutting your cable can seem brutal at first but hear me out.
Think about how many times you actually get to sit down and watch the TV.
Are you really making use of all those channels or are they just there for background noise as you get on with something else?
Consider reducing your monthly cable package if you can’t face cutting the cable altogether or get a subscription-based service instead.

If you haven’t been using it regularly and consistently for months on end you are not going to do it now.

4. Name branded goods
Most of us are suckers for a good name brand but truth be told a lot of us have no business with name brands when our bank accounts are struggling to breathe.
Opt for store brand items when grocery shopping instead.
Your sneakers don’t have to be name brand either. There is a definite shift away from having to cringe with embarrassment because we are not wearing the latest brand.
Generic sneakers are just as good.
Look for what looks nice, is comfortable and more importantly what is within your budget.
5. Buying bottled water
This is one of the biggest wastes of money I can think of.
Water flows out of your tap at home, you already pay for it so why not use it.
I know you may not drink directly from the tab but you can always filter the water to make it pure.
Purchase a cheap water bottle and refill it each time you go out.
There is no need to keep buying bottles of water when you go out or even buy bottled water in packs from the grocery store.
This is an expense you should cut right now.
6. Willy nilly grocery shopping
Never just decide to pop into the grocery store without proper planning.
If you do this the chances are that you will leave with a whole lot of unnecessary items.
If you do need to grocery shop, do it only when you are well prepared for it and have a shopping list that you will stick too.
Meal planning is a great way to stay organized with your grocery shop.

7. Cut your phone costs
Take a look at your phone usage and see if the package you have still fits your needs.

If you are not really much of a phone talker then perhaps you should think about lowering your price plan.
Pay as you go could be a great option for you.

Whilst these items individually may not seem like they can make big changes to your monthly budget, making small changes can, in fact, help you to save a few hundred extra dollars each month.
Those extra dollars can really help you make a dent in your debts.
Don’t be discouraged by having to cut back on expenses.
It’s better to look at your long term goals and use that as your motivation to keep pushing forward to your financial freedom.
One thing I have realized is that you should never turn your nose up at small savings because eventually, they do add up to make a considerable difference.
